My mileage as of 12.31.2008 is 3134

So yeah new years must have started early with the amount of jerkface
ass fucks out driving around this afternoon...

But I liked this tree from tower grove

1.12.31.2008

Mmmh lunch time... last lunch of 2008...last morning commute, last last

Monday

2.12.22.2008

yummm yummm

1.12.22.2008

It was a frigid ride this morning a toasty 4°f with wind chill around
-15°f. Got to break in the new thermals. Picked up a set of patagonia
capilene 3 base layers. They worked great, I did add a track jacket
under my ems jacket. Also I tried taping the the toe vents on my
cleats. With double socks my feet were pretty good. They still are my
trouble area. Maybe duct tape might work better than masking tape. The
ride home was warmer around 20°f. So I crusied around the hill then
went hill climbing around dogtown for a bit. Nothing better than
climbing hills on the K2 the 50lb beast commuter beast.

1.12.15.2008

Crazy looks & slick (I really didn't think they were that bad) roads
with temps hovering in the teens all day made for an interesting
commute. The streets were damp with melting ice and brine, calcium
cloride I believe. Leaving me speckeled with road grime. I've also
concluded I need dust tape or something to give me feet more wind
resistance. Warmth is no problem but sweaty feet with negative degree
wind chill leads to grumpy-pants-ness...

Sunday

1.12.14.2008

Day off, did a bit of urban hiking. Exploring around the hill's
deserted warehouses. Was a nice day to be outside. Fairly warm with
temps in the mid 50's. The next week is looking like a craptastic week
for weather. Freezing rain tonight should leave a sheet of ice over
everthing. Ga-ross and temps in the teens all day tomorrow, yeah good
stuff...

Saturday

1.12.13.2008

Blah break...not liking my coffee choice today. ...Sushi pack...

Thursday

1.12.11.2008

Had today off. Spent most of the morning drinking coffee and making
some adjusments on my fuji. Took off about 15:00 with temps just above
40°f. Had a good spin around the hill-> forest park -> tower grove.
Today was a mile stone I reached 3000 miles for the year. I think I
should try to double that for 2009. However 2 blocks from my house I
felt something weird with my right foot. I thought it may have been my
cleats, nope. Evidently my pedal loosened enough to wobble and
destroyed the threads. So I guess new crank arm / cranks / crankset are
in order...

Wednesday

2.12.10.2008

Bikes @ rest

1.12.10.2008

Chilly evenings are thwarted sipping a wrm beverage. Time for a refill.

Monday

1.12.8.2008

googles...gloves...packages from the mitt...

Mild temps make for a great afternoon to watch the sunset, while
spinning around tower grove. Shameless promo I think not... New socks
worked well...although the real test will be sub freezing temps all day
long.

Friday

1.12.5.2008

Leafy trails are fun in the day, and some times at night...

Thursday

1.12.4.2008

Kelp forest, I wish. Its just the view from one of my bedroom windows.

Tuesday

1.12.2.2008

40° for the ride home. So I'm exteneding my ride home with a loop
around tower grove park. Which should give my work day commute a 15 mi
total. Which means if I only commute I should hit between 3100 & 3200
miles for the year. With my hours getting cut I might get a little
more fun time riding in. Although I might need some different glove
liners, no make the I do need them. As well as some better / warmer
socks.

Monday

1.12.1.2008

Woke up at 515 this morning to a snowy dusting. It was windy and sleet
was coming down but it was light. On my way home hooked into tower
grove as the sun was setting. The fountain at the reflecting pool was
still going. All geared up for the cold. Now back home...

Tuesday

1.11.25.2008

Out for a slo-mo ride on the christy greenway & river des peres trails.

2.11.18.2008

38.9°f when I left 37.9°f when I got back 36.03 miles & 2:23:30 later.
Meant to take pictures but traffic was fairly heavy. So the only
pictures I took were from when I had just gotten back home. last winter
I only commuted & only a handful of fun time rides on the unusually warm
days. Hoping to change that this winter and keep up riding for
fun/distance and just not commuting. I think I'm set up for it except
the feet they were cold after the first hour, not numb but not the most
comfortable. Need to experiment with some different socks, or maybe
some different botties than the set I have.

GTG

I'm hungry...

1.11.18.2008

Mmmh...the simple joy of potatos & eggs...and a healthy spice
collection...

Friday

1.11.14.2008

Mmmh bannana...breaks are always too short...riding in the rain was good
time this morning. Its always amazing how "playing" in the rain always
makes people look at you as if your a bit crazy...

Wednesday

1.11.12.2008

Thursday

1.11.6.2008

A trip to the botanical gardens. The gardens are fun, although I missed
out on the climatron. Which is a geodesic dome housing the rainforest.
Sculptures are from the Niki exhibit. The work is lage scale mosaic
sculptures & functional art, by Niki de Saint Phalle.

Saturday

1.11.1.2008

Can't sleep & I'm totally stuffed up currently. Last night was
pbbbtttt........ all I did was eat have a couple of beers and pass out
from being exhausted. I got almost no sleep the night before. Closing
the opening the next morning is not so bad if you get some sleep.
However I got like none. All because my body/brain decided against
it...

Sunday

2.10.19.2008

A saturday afternoon at Cahokia mounds. The largest mound builders site
in north america. The visitors center had some mighty bronze doors. A
model village dominated the visitors center with a ton of anthropologic
displays. Watched an interesting historical (visitors informational)
video. Follewed by some exploration of the grounds, checking out the
smaller mounds. Then it was a climb up the 159 steps to the top of
monks mound. The mighty center piece to Cahokia mounds. As a sun based
society they had a solar calander, or woodhenge as they call it now.
The Woodhenge area was slighty depressing. It was seperated from
everything else plus because of a construction companies equipment yard
they only get to recreate, research 3/4 of the woodhenge area. But it
was a good saturday afternoon.
