Breaking in the new tires. Rode just under 50 miles. Got an
interesting suprise, the riverfront trail was washed out. Just had to
jump the railrod tracks that you normally would ride under. Cruised to
chain of rocks bridge, lapped the parking lot on the Illinois side.
Back to downtown, filled my bottles and rode back to the washout. Second
return trip to downtown cruised around the arch grounds, and enjoyed
some grassy relaxation. Good times on a day off, I'm totally wiped out.

New tires, hell yeah.

Forest Park Great Balloon Race. Sounded more fun then it was. The race
was delayed about 45 minutes. The cause was ??? Possibly a problem with
the energizer bunny ballon, or bad weather on the horizon. It was a
good day for people watching. Also purina being based here in St Louis
they had several doggy events, and the APA (animal protection agency)
were on hand with a mobile adoption center. I would love to adopt many
animals, however I'm still looking for the right pit or pug. Since I'm
an apartment dweller with no yard I'm leaning towards the pug. But shaw
dog park, is a nice dog park and only 2 blocks away. Also tower grove
is a block away and is large and farly dog friendly. Forest park is a
few miles away and just happen to be one of the largest metropolitan
parks in the country. I know its bigger the central park in NYC but its
numerical ranking I currently cannot find.

Riding in a convertible. The day was beautiful. This did however
result in a glowing sunburn.

More of MI 2008... the dad & i cruised Northport bay for a bit before heading out to lake MI and down to Leland. we grabbed some dinner, at the bluebird. then saw a sweet sunset (no photos), and had a moon lit cruise back to Northport.

Gull Island (officially Bellows) home to a massive sea gull population, the island had been host to a large population of cormorants but the killed off the trees. Leading them to move along. remnants of a home from the 1800's all that remains is the stone chimneys, and first floor.

buoy 2 the outside marker to Northport bay.

looking out across the bay, 13 miles to the other side by boat, sixty miles by car.

GPS view rounding the tip of Leelanau

Grand Traverse Light house, long since turned into a museum since the beacon was automated.

Bluffs on Lake MI and some billowing clouds.

Dash at night.

The point of light at the top is the moon, the flash overwhelms the scene. However boating at night is a great time.
